One of those dwarf pine thingies in the planter next to the trail (north
end, west side) split in two and one of the boles was sitting ACROSS THE
PATH AT WAIST HEIGHT...

Lost my 130$ headlight. Lucky that's all that got knocked off the bike...

PS: I went back later and twisted the two boles together in an effort to
keep them clear of the path...I hope they stay that way...I do NOT want to
run into that sucker again tomorrow.

In the meanwhile...guess I gotta pony up for another headlight.

Sorry to hear that. What brand of light was this? Parts for it might be
abailable so you don't have to replace the whole thing. MEC sells parts
for NiteHawk lights.

I'm sorry to hear about your light.

I would file a claim with the Ministry of Transportation, as I believe
it is their facility and they are responsible for keeping it safe.
They have paid out claims in the past to cyclists who have had damaged
bicycles due to improper maintenance.
