Narrower sidewalks on Burrard bridge?

Re Burrard Bridge in Vancouver. How come this has never been considered:

Why not NARROW the sidewalks on the Burrard Bridge by chopping off a bit
of the sidewalk and widening the curb lane an equivalent amount. Then
cyclists can get off the sidewalk completely and use the wider vehicle lane,
same as they do on the Granville Bridge. It seems that this would be
cheap and eliminate the bike/pedestrian conflicts.

Any reason this has not been considered?

This would not work, as the towers are right at the inside sidewalk
edge making widening of the curb lanes impossible without major pinch
points.

Duh, thanks. I've ridden over that bridge countless times and totally
forgot about the towers. :-/
